World Rabies Day

World Rabies Day is marked each year on September 28
, the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur.  In 2017, the theme selected by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) was Rabies: Zero by 30, which describes the goal set jointly by GARC, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) of zero human deaths from rabies by 2030.   In keeping with this theme, the VVMA One Health Committee focused year two of our multi-year rabies youth education project on pet vaccination.  Entitled Rabies: Vaccinate to Eliminate, the project is centered on school and youth libraries throughout Vermont with an infographic on rabies in Vermont.   Our 2017 rabies infographic, which is also posted to our Facebook pages and via Twitter, can be found here
